Rodd is a qualified, accredited and passionate Chinese herbal medicine practitioner, with study in Sydney Australia and Anhui China. Being a Chinese Herbalist, his interest extends from more than just prescribing chinese herbal medicine but also includes growing and harvesting his own herbs at home. He is a beliver in obtaining maxium effects and results for the foods we eat daily.

  

Herbal preparations have been in use in all cultures around the world for many thousands of years. The system used within Chinese Herbal Medicine theory utilises hundreds of different ingredients to bring balance to the body and alleviate illnesses.

Herbal medicine can be administered in a variety of ways including raw, powdered, granulated, liquid, pills or capsule preparations.  Herbal formulas should only be prescribed by an accredited herbalist to prevent any adverse reactions.

  

All of the herbs used within the Sydney herbal clinic, meet strict TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) , CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) and The Traditional Chinese Medicine Endangered Species Certification Scheme (ESCS)

  

  

  • Raw herbs are usually made into a decoction by boiling them for a certain amount of time and consumed once or twice daily.  This decotion can also be applied externally as is the case for facial washers.

  

  • Powerdered and granulated are specifically prepared to the highest quality and are batch tested for impurities and toxic matter.  Large herbal companies produce this for improve efficacy and patient compliance.  

  

  • Liquid extracts are derived from plants or herbal materials.

  

Chinese Herbal Medicine is known to treat a variety of conditions including:

  • Neurological conditions (headaches, migraines, facial and trigeminal neuralgia, some forms of paralysis, peripheral neuropathy, tinnitis, dizziness, and Meniere's disease)

  

  • Respiratory conditions (bronchial asthma, acute and chronic bronchitis, acute tonsillitis, rhinitis, sinusitis, hay fever, chronic cough, laryngitis, sore throat, influenza and the common cold)

  • Gynaecological and obstetric disorders (premenstrual tension, painful, heavy or irregular, or the absence of periods, abnormal uterine bleeding or discharge, hormonal disturbances, disorders associated with menopause, prolapse of the uterus or bladder, difficulty with conception and morning sickness)

  

  • Skin conditions (eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, nerve rash, herpes zoster, acne, scar tissue and resultant adhesions, hair loss and dandruff)

  

  • Eye conditions (visual disorders, red, sore, itchy or watery eyes, conjunctivitis, simple cataracts, myopia in children and central retinitis)

  

  • Musculoskeletal disorders (osteoarthritis, sciatica, lumbago, weak back, low back pain, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, tenosynovitis, shoulder and neck pain, cervicobrachial syndrome, "frozen shoulder", and "tennis elbow")
